Dog available for adoption at PSPCA after video of abuse helps lead to her rescue

An 8-month-old puppy named Daisy is now available for adoption at the Pennsylvania SPCA after a viral video that showed her being physically harmed in West Powelton helped lead to her rescue. The video showed Daisy being hit by man, who was quickly identified through tips sent to the PSPCA. The investigation is ongoing.

First blood test for colorectal cancer offers a less invasive screening option than colonoscopies

The first blood test for colorectal cancer was approved Monday by the Food and Drug Administration. Guardant Health's Shield test is for people 45 and older who are at average risk for the disease. The screening method can be completed in a routine doctor's visit – unlike stool tests and colonoscopies – but it is less effective than other options.

Teens accused of shooting man during attempted robbery in West Philadelphia, police say

Two 16-year-olds are accused of shooting a man while attempting to rob him in the Wynnefield neighborhood of West Philadelphia on Saturday night, authorities say. The victim was shot in the chest and arm, and one of the teenagers was also shot when the victim returned gunfire, police say.
