The Delaware River Waterfront has two exciting outdoor destinations for the spring and summer months. Spruce Street Harbor Park will return on May 6 for the season, while Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest will be open daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
The Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest roller skating rink, complete with a beach-like landscape around the outside, is back this summer for its second season. Roller skating costs $3, and roller skate rentals are $10. Independence Blue Cross cardholders will receive free skating admission. In addition, there will be a nine-hole mini-golf course this year, with each of the mini-golf holes designed by a local artist.
The Winterfest lodge will be transformed for Summerfest into a Chickie's and Pete's Waterfront Crabshack. The air-conditioned space will feature picnic tables and beach-themed decor. Menu items will include snow crab legs, hard shell crabs, hot and cold shrimp, fried shrimp, steamed clams, the brand's signature Crabfries and cheesesteaks.
Franklin Fountain will also be serving ice cream, lemonade and limeade, milkshakes and other cold treats. As for alcoholic drinks, frozen margaritas, daiquiris and local beers will be available from an on-site bar.
At Spruce Street Harbor Park this year, there will be more hammocks and lounge seating available for attendees. Two waterfront hammock lounge areas can be rented out for two-and-a-half-hour blocks of time for private parties, similar to the Blue Cross Winterfest cabins. The price has yet to be announced. The areas will feature freestanding hammocks, lounge tables and chairs, umbrellas and games that accommodate up to 20 people.

Both Summerfest and Spruce Street Harbor Park are free and open to the public through the spring and summer months, thanks to the generosity of their sponsors.
Penn's Landing on the Delaware River Waterfront will also host festivals and events throughout the season. First up is the Art Star Craft Bazaar, a two-day event beginning on May 7.
