Tina Fey visits Upper Darby High for 'Mean Girls' promo

Lower Merion native and recent "Saturday Night Live" host Tina Fey returned to her alma mater, Upper Darby High School, Wednesday to film a promotional video for her new Broadway musical, "Mean Girls."

The show, based on Fey's 2004 cult classic film of the same name, just hit New York stages in April, already securing 12 Tony Award nominations and giving a whole new generation reason to wear pink on Wednesdays.

Upper Darby announced Fey had visited and met with some students who had seen the production as members of the school's choir.

Fey, who graduated from Upper Darby in 1988, has said that her experience in high school helped to create some of the concepts in "Mean Girls." Unfortunately, Fey put the Delco accent to rest and instead set the film in suburban Chicago.

The visit to the school was a surprise to students, who were not told ahead of time about the celebrity's appearance. Along with about a dozen production crew members, Fey was at the school between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Another post from Upper Darby shows the school's choir, the Encore Singers, singing to Fey.
