Colman Domingo will direct 'Scandalous,' a film that depicts the clandestine love affair between Hollywood stars Kim Novak and Sammy Davis Jr. in the 1950s. Domingo's 'Euphoria' co-star Sydney Sweeney will portray Novak while 'Alien: Romulus' star David Jonsson will play Davis. Production on the film is expected to begin after Season 3 of 'Euphoria' wraps up.

Woman behind Wildwood's iconic tram recording sues, alleging it's been used unfairly for decades

Floss Stingel, who recorded the 'watch the tram car, please' line used on Wildwood's tram cars in 1971, is suing the city and others, claiming the voiceover was used without her consent and that she was never compensated for it. The lawsuit was filed in New Jersey's Superior Court on Monday.

'Zero Fare' program for SEPTA to expand as City touts success in first year

The City of Philadelphia touted a successful first year for its Zero Fare program, which provides low-income residents with SEPTA Key cards allowing for unlimited taps on subways, buses, trolleys and the Regional Rail system. Over 4.3 million Zero Fare trips were taken during the program's first year, and the City will distribute an additional 20,000 SEPTA Key cards for the second year.

East Passyunk celebrating the fall with a 'witch craft crawl' and festival

East Passyunk will host a 'Witch Craft Crawl' on Oct. 23 and a Fall Fest on Oct. 26 to celebrate the Halloween season. The crawl will highlight over 30 businesses in the neighborhood, all with specials such as seasonal cocktails or product sales. The Fall Fest will have a costume contest with themes paired to East Passyunk businesses.

7 injured, 1 critically after mass shooting in North Philly

Seven people were injured, with one in critical condition, after a mass shooting at the 1100 block of Cumberland Street at 3:25 a.m. Police say that two males were in a dispute and one of them opened fire at the crowd. Police did not make any arrests but recovered a weapon and three different types of shell casings.

New 6ABC sports anchor Jason Dumas is returning to his hometown after 17 years and several career stops

Haverford native Jason Dumas has been hired by 6ABC as a sports anchor and reporter, filling a role left vacant by the departure of Jamie Apody last year. Dumas has been working for KRON4 in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2018 following previous roles at ESPN and other TV stations.

David Corenswet may play ex-football player in movie about final pick of 1983 NFL draft

David Corenswet is in talks to portray NFL player John Tuggle in the film 'Mr. Irrelevant.' Tuggle was the final pick in the 1983 NFL Draft and played for the New York Giants for one season before dying of cancer in 1986. The film is a production from Skydance Sports and has director Jonathan Levine and writer Nick Santora attached to it.

House fire in Chester County leaves 1 person dead

One person died in a house fire on the 200 block of Hunters Run Road in Honey Brook, Chester County early Friday morning, Pennsylvania State Police say. The cause of the blaze, which began before 5 a.m., remains under investigation. Neighbors heard several explosions, but it's unclear if they were the result – or cause – of the fire.

SEPTA bus rider attacked another passenger with a meat cleaver, police say

A SEPTA bus rider was attacked by another passenger with a meat cleaver early Thursday morning in Center City, police said. The altercation occurred on a Broad Street Line Night Owl bus at Broad and Callowhill streets shortly before 3 a.m. The man who was slashed with the meat cleaver suffered lacerations to his head and hands, investigators said.
