An Atlantic City man who was caught in the act of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl has been sentenced to prison.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said Friday that Victoriano Sevilla, 61, was given a 20-year sentence for the May 2014 assault.
Police were called to Sevilla's home on the 400 block of North Harrisburg Avenue after receiving a report of a child being sexually assaulted, according to authorities.
The caller reported walking into a room and witnessing Sevilla raping a child, prosecutors said. Sevilla fled on foot but was brought into custody shortly afterward.
As a part of a plea agreement, Sevilla will have to serve 18 years of his 20-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison before being eligible for parole.
He will be subject to Megan's Law registration and parole supervision for life.
