Residents of a Jersey Shore town have spotted at least one coyote, according to police.
The Wall Township Police Department received two confirmed coyote sightings on Saturday around 10:20 a.m. near the intersection of Orchard Crest Boulevard and Paynters Road in Monmouth County.
Police officials said the observed coyotes did not show aggressive behavior, but reminded residents that coyotes have been known to attack humans.
The public should exercise caution if a coyote is spotted.
Two weeks ago in neighboring Ocean County, a man needed stitches on both arms after an attack by an aggressive animal. Authorities believe it was a coyote, but could not locate the animal.
The Humane Society and the state's Department of Environmental Protection Division of Fish and Wildlife have been notified.
