For Pennsylvanians who are afraid they might not be able to afford heating their homes this winter, the state wants you to know it may be able to help.
Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Secretary Ted Dallas said Thursday that low-income residents should be aware of the state's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which provides financial support to pay utilities for those who fall into certain income brackets.
Both renters and homeowners can apply. The money goes right to the utility company or heating provider and does not need to be repaid. For a one-person household, the maximum income needed to apply is $17,820, and an additional $6,240 in income is allowed per person in the household.
