Penn Museum to showcase holiday traditions from around the world

On Dec. 3, the Penn Museum will host Celebrations Around the World. The family-friendly event features holiday traditions from across the globe. Attendees can expect live music, performances, face painting, arts & crafts, story telling and tours during the event.

Attendees will receive Museum "passports" once they arrive to visit different exhibits. This year China, Japan, Kenya, Iraq and the Republic of Georgia will be highlighted. The holiday traditions, history, cuisine and festivities of the area will be explained at each exhibit.

Here's the full schedule of events:

11:30 a.m. - Lecture: "New Year’s Eve Around the World" with Thomas Dixon
Noon - Family Gallery Tour: "Celebrations Around the World"
Noon - "Wototo of Joy" storytelling
1 p.m. - Tai chi demonstration by Xirui Sun
2 p.m. - "
Children’s Music from around the World"
2:30 - Family Gallery Tour: "Celebrations Around the World"
3 p.m. - Traditional Vietnamese songs by Trang Le
3:30 p.m. - Kenkojuku Karate School demonstration
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Holiday crafts
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Tours: "Passports Around the World"

The event is free to attend, as a "gift" from the Penn Museum to the community.
