Fire breaks out overnight at Fairmount Park Welcome Center

Authorities said the blaze was placed under control shortly after it began, and no injuries were reported

The Fairmount Park Welcome Center's fate remains a mystery as a New York-based firm finalizes the redesign of LOVE Park.

A fire reportedly broke out overnight inside the Fairmount Park Welcome Center in LOVE Park.

According to CBSPhilly, a Philadelphia police officer noticed smoke drifting from the building, which is located in the 1500 block of John F. Kennedy Blvd., at around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

By 3:30 a.m. the fire was reportedly under control, and authorities told CBSPhilly no injuries were reported.

The blaze was said to have started in the basement of the building. The cause is currently under investigation, and cleanup is underway.
