More than 32,000 Pennsylvania residents have registered to vote using the state's new website, register.votespa.com since it launched in August, Secretary of State Pedro A. Cortés said Wednesday.
"This bears out our expectation that eligible voters will find online registration to be the most convenient, secure and accessible option available," said Cortés in a release to announce the usage statistics of the new site.
Since its Aug. 27 launch, the secretary of state said the site saw a total of 32,428 state residents register to vote online. According to Wanda Murren, press secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of State, more than 4,800 Philadelphia residents registered to vote for the upcoming November elections.
Voting registration for November is now closed, however, the site is active and residents can still sign up to register to vote for the primary elections that will be held next April, Murren said.
Pennsylvania residents can also modify their voter registration on the site, allowing them to change their names, address or party affiliation easily online, Murren added.
More information is available on the site at register.votespa.com.
