By joining the app, SEPTA will now offer riders another method to remain up to the minute with real-time information on delays and service interruptions. ReadyPhiladelphia, meanwhile, is the city's revamped notification app to replace the previous ReadyNotifyPA system.
“ReadyPhiladelphia is a valuable resource, keeping those who visit, work or live in the city connected with important information. We are able to reach people with public safety notifications from the National Weather Service, Philadelphia Police and Philadelphia Fire,” Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management Director Samantha Phillips said. “SEPTA has been a great partner of ours and we are happy to expand that relationship, keeping the public informed with transit alerts during emergency or non-emergency situations.”
SEPTA currently provides updates through several channels, including its own app, website and Twitter feed. General Manager Jeffrey D. Knueppel suggested ReadyPhiladelphia will provide residents a streamlined way to prioritize alerts that directly impact their commutes.
“ReadyPhiladelphia provides a tremendous resource for SEPTA customers to get service updates and other information they need for their daily travels,” Knueppel said. “SEPTA is thrilled to partner with the Office of Emergency Management for this initiative, and we encourage our riders to sign up for ReadyPhiladelphia notifications.”
Through the ReadyPhiladelphia system, riders can opt to receive alerts for any or all of the following.
• Regional Rail
• Market-Frankford Line
• Broad Street Line
• City & Suburban Trolley Lines
• Norristown High-Speed Line
• City & Suburban Bus Routes
To sign up for alerts, residents must create an account at the Office of Emergency Management website. Afterward, you can download the ContactBridge app and sign up for SEPTA alerts on your smartphone (text or push notifications) or via email. Alerts can be sent either 24 hours a day or between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays and weekends.
