Bruce Jenner made history for transgender people on Friday when he announced that he identified as a woman in an interview with Diane Sawyer.
Many celebrities have expressed their support for Jenner, especially on twitter. However Kris Humphries, a professional basketball player with the Washington Wizards who was married to Jenner's step-daughter Kim Kardashian for a brief period in 2011, tweeted a seemingly veiled shot at the family concerning the news.
Man, I'm glad I got out when I did. #Gottadoyou

Humphries caught plenty of heat for the comment from Twitter users. Comedian Nikki Glaser fired back with a tweet about Humphries' history playing for multiple teams.
Yeah, and so were The Jazz, Raptors, Mavericks, Nets, and Celtics. #bfhelpedmewiththistweet https://t.co/s2Cd0REQHl

Since then, Humphries attempted to clarify his words with subsequent tweets.
I have and always will support Bruce hence #Gottadoyou. Now recognize I was too vague and sincerely apologize for the way this came across.

This isn't the first time Humphries' previous relationship with Kardashian has stirred controversy. He's been the target of rap lyrics from Kardashian's new husband Kanye West. He's also been reminded of his short-lived marriage while playing on a few occasions.
