The current Guinness World Record for "Most People to Write a Story" was set in 2013 by 1,178 people in Beijing, China. On July 26, Mighty Writers wants Philadelphia to set a new record.
The Philly nonprofit that teaches writing is inviting kids age 7 to 17 to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art at 10 a.m., so they can all write in the same location and at the same time in order to shatter the previous record.
A turnout of 3,000 is what the organization is aiming for. The topic everyone will be writing about is "If I were President," picked since the record-breaking attempt coincides with the DNC.
"The record-setting event will shine a much-needed light on the literacy crisis and the power writing holds to transform lives," states a press release from Mighty Writers.
