Joe Biden and his wife Jill have reportedly purchased a vacation beach home for their family, but it’s not quite where Jersey Shore locals may have expected.
After hearing Jill Biden’s stories of summers growing up in Ocean City, NJ and day trips to Atlantic City, and after the Bidens being routinely spotted in Stone Harbor, NJ throughout the years, the Jersey Shore was considered by many to be the family’s beachside destination. Even in 2012, following the destruction of Hurricane Sandy, Biden remarked during a visit that the Jersey Shore had a “homeboy” in the White House.

Shore-goers may be surprised to hear that, according to the News Journal, the Bidens have purchased a new vacation home -- in Delaware. Overlooking Cape Henlopen State Park in Rehoboth Beach, to be exact.
The expired listing describes the house’s multiple outdoor decks, six bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, and three indoor fireplaces.
“Throughout our careers, Jill and I have dreamed of being able to buy a place at the beach at home where we can bring the whole family,” Biden said in a statement. “We feel very lucky that we’re now able to make that happen and are looking forward to spending time with our family in the place that matters most to us in the world.”
The News Journal reported that when the house was last sold in 2006, it sold for $1.5 million. The Bidens reportedly paid for the house using advances from their book deal with Flatiron Books, which was announced earlier this year.
