Weckerly's, a self-declared "micro-creamery" that produces French-style ice cream, has created a new flavor exclusively for The Barnes Foundation. From Aug. 24 through Labor Day, the new flavor and a small selection of seasonal varieties will be served at an ice cream pop-up shop at the museum.
For the “Barnes Ensemble” flavor, Weckerly's created a sandwich featuring two layers of lemon verbena ice cream -- one swirled with local berries and the other swirled with house-made peach butter -- between crunchy granola and geranium shortbread. The price is $5 per sandwich.
Other ice cream flavors (some in sandwiches and some as scoops) offered will include Nectarine Rosemary Sorbet, Caramel Corn and Peaches + Cream + Pie.
Find the ice cream pop-up on the Barnes driveway through Aug. 28, before it moves to the Barnes Fountain Plaza through Sept. 5. The cart will be open from noon to 6 p.m., with a few dates scheduled to have extended hours.
