The Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation is asking for the public’s support of the five fallen officers ambushed and killed on Thursday by gunmen during a peaceful protest over fatal police shootings of black men in other states.

The attacks made Thursday the deadliest day for U.S. law enforcement officers since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, which tracks on-duty deaths.

According to its website, the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation, is a 501 (c) 3, tax-deductible, nonprofit organization established in 2009 by active Dallas Police Officers to assist the immediate families of "fallen officers" critically injured or killed in the line-of-duty.
