Now that summer is finally over and you’re not sweating off that beautiful face you spent half an hour finishing between getting dressed and running out the door, it’s time to shine. Makeup-wise, fall gives us so much more to work with, using darker colors, glimmer and deep reds. Here are some of my fave fall makeup looks.
NATURAL BROWS
Natural eyebrows have been seen all over the Fall 2016 runway this season. From Fendi to Armani, almost all of the makeup looks featured thick, natural eyebrows. Gone are the days of “eyebrows on fleek.” The fall 2016 season is all about welcoming natural brows with open arms.
PRO TIP: To achieve this look, use a spoolie to brush brows in an upward motion. Rather than waxing or threading to achieve a defined look, try plucking the outer and inner corners to “clean up” your eyebrows.
COPPER, COPPER, COPPER!!
When it comes to the fall/winter 2016-2017 eye makeup trends, one color sticks out most from the runways, from New York to Milan: the penny copper lids. This hue accents almost all eye colors, as seen in Alexander Wang’s fall 2016 collection. We are completely obsessed with this color and can assure you, you’ll be seeing more of it in the coming months.
PRO TIP: Dust copper shadow all over eyes, starting from the lid and working your way right below the water line to make eyes pop.
SMUDGED LINER
Black eyeliner is obviously a statement every autumn. But smudged, messy eyeliner was all over the runway in a big way this fall. From Versace to Nicole Miller, women are embracing the “yesterday’s makeup” look with pride. Whether it’s a night out or a special event, using this technique to create a dramatic eye will definitely take your makeup look to the next level.
PRO TIP: Use a coal liner all around the eye, from water to lash line. Take a small shadow brush or smudger and begin to blend out as much as you want. This look is all about being messy, so get creative.
DEEP LIPS
If you’re anything like me, you cannot wait until the cooler months to whip out your dark lip colors. Something about throwing on a deep plum lipstick makes me feel like I actually accomplished something while getting ready for work in the morning. Deep lips have always been a trend for fall/winter, and they are definitely here to stay.
PRO TIP: Try using a liquid lipstick. They go on wet and dry matte. These formulas are super pigmented and guaranteed to stay on all day.
GLITTER
In case no one told you, glitter is definitely for grownups. This season, glitter was seen everywhere from Tommy Hilfiger to Burberry. Adding even a bit of glitter to your look can take you from day to night in seconds. We are so happy this look is finally trending on the runways, as makeup mavens have been playing with glitter for years.
PRO TIP: To make glitter wearable, try using a taupe color in the outer corners of the eyes and dusting loose glitter right in the middle to make your face pop.
