On Friday night’s episode of Jeopardy!, one question had Philadelphians shouting at their television sets in unison.
The question, in a category with questions about almanacs, was as follows:
“The World Almanac editors picked items for a figurative 2018 time capsule, including this furry orange mascot of the Philly Flyers.”
We’ll give you a second, though you probably don’t need it:

The unquestionably weird phrasing of “Philly Flyers” aside, this is a strangely easy question for a regular episode of Jeopardy!
Sure, it was about a 2018 capsule, so its timeliness would almost always make it seem easy. But, still. Everyone knows about Gritty!
The mascot himself was unsurprisingly pleased:

It’s been a busy week for Gritty.
On Tuesday, the Flyers beat the Wild (on the road, but he was definitely watching).
On Thursday, he was in Los Angeles pumping up the crowd before an eventual Philadelphia Fusion win in the Overwatch League season opener:
Our FAVORITE NHL mascot dropped by the house to hang out before his @overwatchleague debut!

Thanks for bringing us good luck, @GrittyNHL! 🧡

And then he went and made his Jeopardy! debut.
Life never slows down for Gritty.
