The annual Wawa Hoagie Day was held Thursday, July 2, on the lawn of the Independence Visitor Center. As a highlight of the event, a 5-ton Italian hoagie was constructed (it was comprised of more than 20,000 shorti hoagies) and was served to the crowd free of charge. Mayor Michael Nutter honored soldiers and hometown heroes for their hard work and dedication.
