In the 2014 draft, the Eagles did not draft any offensive linemen, which was a scenario that former general manager Howie Roseman referred to as "a dagger in the heart." In that draft, it appeared that the Eagles were targeting OL help in the 3rd round, but when 7 offensive linemen were selected in the 19 picks before the Eagles were on the clock with the 83rd overall pick, they traded out.
Player | Position | Team | Round | Overall |
Justin Britt | OT | Seahawks | 2 | 64 |
Morgan Moses | OT | Redskins | 3 | 66 |
Billy Turner | OT | Dolphins | 3 | 67 |
Marcus Martin | C | 49ers | 3 | 70 |
Travis Swanson | C | Lions | 3 | 76 |
Spencer Long | OG | Redskins | 3 | 78 |
Gabe Jackson | OG | Raiders | 3 | 81 |
One of the clearest need areas on the Eagles roster is youth and depth along their offensive line. The Eagles have three projected starters over the age of 30, and as of right now, they have the oldest projected starting offensive line in the NFL. It was imperative that they added youth and depth to that unit in this draft, but for the second consecutive year, they may have failed to do so.

In the fourth round, there was a similar run of offensive linemen that were taken before the Eagles' pick at 113th overall:
Player | Position | Team | Round | Overall |
Drryl Williams | OG | Panthers | 4 | 102 |
T.J. Clemmings | OT | Vikings | 4 | 110 |
Tre Jackson | OG | Redskins | 4 | 111 |
Arie Kouandjio | OG | Redskins | 4 | 112 |
At pick #113, the Eagles traded out. While they were able to get good value in return (they received the Lions' 2016 3rd round pick in return), they will not select again until the sixth round, where offensive line pickings will be slim.
For the second consecutive year, the Eagles may not have adequately addressed their aging offensive line in the draft.
