Sturgis outperformed Parkey during training camp and in the preseason, hitting over 90 percent of his attempts in camp, and not missing during the preseason. He also clearly had more leg on his kicks than Parkey, both in terms of kickoffs, and the distance with which he cleared the crossbar.
A season ago, Sturgis was 22 of 26 (81.8 percent) on field goal attempts, and 35 of 37 (94.6 percent) on PATs.
