By the numbers: How A.J. Brown and the Eagles dismantled the Dolphins

A breakdown by the numbers of how Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and the Eagles beat Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins, 31-17.

The Eagles finally brought the Kelly Greens back out and beat the Dolphins, 31-17, Sunday night down at the Linc.

A.J. Brown continued to put up monster numbers at wideout, the Jalen Hurts "Tush Push" remained undefeated, and "Big Play" Slay lived up to the name once again with a huge fourth-quarter interception that helped to put the contest out of reach.

The Eagles improved to 6-1 against what was a lethal Miami air attack going in, and the final stats for the night paint a picture of exactly how they did.

The numbers don't lie, and they spelled disaster for the Miami Dolphins.

Here's a look...

-7

Miami's net rushing total for the first half. Raheem Mostert had three carries for -8 yards by the intermission, and Salvon Ahmed had a single carry for a single yard.

The Dolphins did eventually finish in the positive with 45 rushing yards for the game – but if you have no ground attack, more often than not, the passing game can't develop, and the Eagles' defense did everything they could Sunday night to make sure of that.

32

The number of career rushing touchdowns for Jalen Hurts after his second-quarter sneak from the Miami 1-yardline Sunday night, which tied him with Randall Cunningham for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in Eagles history.

“It’s crazy," Hurts said afterward. "It’s kind of cool to do that wearing his old jersey.”

Kelly Green night proved fitting in more ways than one.

10

The number of accepted penalties that went against the Dolphins Sunday night compared to the Eagles' 0 – offsetting calls notwithstanding, of which there were a couple.

That's not to say it was a squeaky-clean game from the Eagles though. They definitely got away with one here on this pass breakup by James Bradberry.

6:35

The amount of time drained on the Eagles' final, backbreaking scoring drive, when they took the clock from 11:21 all the way down to 4:46 in the fourth quarter up 31-17. There was little Miami could do once they finally got the ball back.

36:43

The amount of time the Eagles had the ball Sunday night compared to the Dolphins' 23:17. Once again, Philly dominated the time of possession battle on the way to a victory.

The number of consecutive games for A.J. Brown with at least 125 yards receiving after Sunday night's win, where he had 10 receptions on 15 targets for 137 yards and a touchdown.

Brown's streak of consecutive games with 125-plus receiving yards now ties him with former Lions receivers Calvin Johnson (2012) and Pat Studstill (1966) for the longest such streak in NFL history.

"DAWG," cornerback Darius Slay said of Brown postgame.

Five is also the number of targets and receptions made by Dallas Goedert, which all went for 77 yards and a touchdown in an ultra-efficient outing on National Tight Ends Day.

More concerningly though, five is also the number of turnovers Hurts has lost in the last two games – three interceptions last week against the Jets, and then a pick-six and a lost fumble on Sunday night against the Dolphins.

Hurts had just eight turnovers (six interceptions and two lost fumbles) all of last season. He's up to 10 (eight interceptions, two lost fumbles) in 2023.

809

Circling back to Brown, he has 809 receiving yards on the season after Sunday night. The Tennesee Titans' receivers collectively have a total of 789. DeAndre Hopkins leads Tennesee with 376 yards. Treylon Burks only has 99.

The Titans made out poorly from that trade.

The number of attempted, and successful, "Tush Pushes"/"Brotherly Shoves" the Eagles ran on Sunday night, plus their number of attempted and successful fourth-down conversions.

Going back to the start of the 2022 season, Hurts and the Eagles are 41-for-44 on sneak attempts, per ESPN Stats & Info. That's a success rate of 93 percent for the New Heights listeners out there, and a feat that no one else in the league can seem to replicate, try as they might.

"If everybody could do it, everybody would do it," head coach Nick Sirianni said postgame.

The number of gaps Jordan Davis takes up at the line, according to Lane Johnson.

The number of tackles Haason Reddick had for a loss Sunday night. He didn't register a sack, but anticipated and broke through Miami's run plays to the outside to still send them backward anyway.

1

The lone turnover that the Eagles' defense forced all night, but by far the biggest one when Slay jumped the route and picked off Tagovailoa's pass in the fourth quarter.

69,789

Sunday night's attendance for the sellout crowd at the Linc, 90 percent of which (probably more, in all honesty) seemed to be decked out in Kelly Green Eagles gear. Philly has waited a long, long time for those uniforms to come back and fans showed up to the stadium, and the tailgates beforehand, fully prepared.
