The Seventh Annual Sourfest begins Aug. 13 at South Philly's Devil's Den, celebrating the intentionally tart-tasting sour beer. The acidic sting isn't for everyone, but those who love it won't want to miss this weeklong fest.
Devil's Den is starting Sourfest off strong, with all 17 taps pouring sours on Aug. 13-14. Following the kick-off, the restaurant will host a series of theme nights, while keeping at least eight taps dedicated to sour beer.
On Aug. 15, "Sour 101" with Joe Sixpack will take place at 6:30 p.m. The lesson will include a flight of five sour beers, along with light snacks and appetizers. To join, grab a $50 ticket.
Then, on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20, Devil's Den will celebrate Pennsylvania sour beers by only serving local brews. Free Will and Highway Manor will provide speciality cocktails made from their sour beers on Aug. 20.
If you plan on eating and drinking, there will be two chef's tasting menus during the festival. For $35, enjoy three courses complimented by six-ounce pours of sour beer.
