Curt Schilling defends Yiannopoulos then backtracks after learning of pedophilia controversy

Former Phillies pitcher and Breitbart contributor Curt Schilling was quick to take back comments he made defending Breitbart senior editor Milo Yiannopoulos on Monday.

Schilling, who hosts a political talk show called "Whatever it Takes" that airs weekdays on Breitbart.com, tweeted "Let me see if I have this right. @lenadunham child molester Woody Allen, sex with a minor, Roman Polanski, rapist, But Milo is the problem?"

Brietbart describes itself as "a far-right American news, opinion and commentary website." It also is widely considered by many to be a platform for the so-called "alt-right" movement, an offshoot of conservatism that mixes racism, white nationalism and populism.

Yiannopoulos has been under fire since the weekend when video of an interview surfaced online during which he justified sex with juvenile boys.

The comments, which were leaked on Twitter by conservative group Reagan Battalion, so far have cost Yiannopoulous his book deal with Simon & Schuster and a speaking engagement at the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference. And on Tuesday, Yiannopoulous' boss called them "not defensible."

Yiannopoulous has since resigned from his position

It appears that after learning of the controversy, Schilling took back his previous support, apologizing "if it appeared in any way [that he was] 'defending'" Yiannopoulos.

In a post on his Facebook account Sunday, Yiannopoulos said he is "completely disgusted by the abuse of children."
