The city that 6ABC's Jim Gardner reports on daily is showing him some love after four decades in the business.
City Council adopted a resolution, introduced by Councilman At-Large Al Taubenberger, on Thursday that recognizes Gardner for "his hard work and dedication" as an anchor and reporter in Philadelphia.

The resolution goes through Gardner's extensive career with WPVI-TV, which he joined in June 1976. Gardner began anchoring the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcast a year later.
Since that time, Gardner has sat down with every major presidential candidate and reported stories from as close as the dugout at Citizens Bank Park to as far away as Cuba.
The station honored Gardner last month as he celebrated two milestones – his 40 years as anchor, as well as his 69th birthday in a tribute video that featured a shoutout from late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
The resolution was adopted unanimously and will give Gardner a more formal ceremony when the council meets back in the fall after summer recess, said Chris Wright, Taubenberger's director of legislation.
"[Council will] schedule a date to be able to bring in Jim Gardner to make a presentation of the resolution and Jim Gardner will have the opportunity to thank council," Wright said.
Taking to Twitter late last week, Gardner said that he was "truly honored" to be recognized.
Three months ago that Kevin Hart, the actor and comedian who grew up in North Philadelphia, also was honored by City Council after a resolution spearheaded by Councilman David Oh declared July 6 "Kevin Hart Day."
