The current Phillies have been on the golf course for a while now, but some of the club’s former stars have been very good in the Dodgers-Nationals NLDS series now headed for a deciding Game 5 in the Nation’s Capital.
For Washington, Jayson Werth has collected a number of big hits, including a homer in Game 3. For the Dodgers, Carlos Ruiz hit a pinch-hit homer in that same game and Joe Blanton (Joe Blanton?) has been an unexpected star pitching in big spots out of the bullpen.
But in Tuesday's Game 4, with the Dodgers trailing 2-1 in the series, it was Chase Utley who stole the show late. With the game tied at five in the eighth inning, “The Man” took a hanging breaking ball into right field to give Los Angeles a late lead:
And Utley made that run hold up with a diving play in the top of the ninth to rob Bryce Harper of an infield hit. Game 5 is on Thursday.
