The sale of the 3,700-square-foot home in Rumson, Monmouth County, was first reported by RedBankGreen, which said the contract on the 4-acre property dates back to Feb. 26. The property was assessed at $1.96 million, though actual sale price was not disclosed. A record of the address on Zillow says the home was sold for $1.737 million on April 25.
In 1983, Springsteen reportedly acquired the first of three Rumson properties totaling 14 acres, including a nine-acre estate next door to the home purchased by Foye, a Newark native who won New Jersey Player of the Year honors during his senior year at East Side High School in 2002.
Foye's new home date back to 1904, while Springsteen's 5,900-square-foot mansion, constructed in 1917, served as the musician's primary residence for several years before he relocated to a 368-acre farm in Colts Neck in 1987.
Springsteen and the E Street Band recently played in Philadelphia at Wells Fargo Center in February and the group will return Sept. 7 for the River Tour at Citizens Bank Park. Tickets for that show go on sale starting May 20 at 10 a.m.
Foye, a 6-4 guard who was picked seventh overall in the 2006 NBA Draft, is currently contending for an NBA championship with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
For his career at Villanova, Foye averaged 15 points and 4.8 rebounds, landing a Consensus All-America first-team pick in 2006. In addition to his summer basketball camps in Rumson, Foye has a foundation whose mission is to provide supplies and mentoring to students in Newark.
