It's a tale that'll be sure to tug at your heartstrings.
Earlier this week, the internet took to sharing the story of Jax Rosebush, a 5-year-old boy from Kentucky, who got the idea to trick his teacher when his mom told him that he needed to get his haircut.
His secret plan? To get his head shaved like his good friend, Reddy Welson, in an attempt to confuse his teacher when they returned to school.
Jax's mom, Lydia Stith Rosebush, first shared the story last week on her Facebook account.
She said:
This morning Jax and I were discussing his wild hair. I told him that he needed a haircut this weekend. He said that he wanted his head shaved really short so he could look like his friend Reddy. He said he couldn't wait to go to school on Monday with his hair like Reddy's so that his teacher wouldn't be able to tell them apart. He thought it would be so hilarious to confuse his teacher with the same haircut.
Here's a picture of Jax and Reddy from their Christmas program. I'm sure you all see the resemblance.
If this isn't proof that hate and prejudice is something that is taught I don't know what is. The only difference Jax sees in the two of them is their hair.
So far, the post has been shared nearly 100,000 times and has been covered by national media outlets including Today and CNN.
It's stirred countless of positive comments, too.
“It is just two innocent boys," Rosebush told Today. "Obviously, they see they are different colors, they just don’t care. It is not important."
