A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. this morning.
By the time the storm heads toward New England, most of the region will have seen 1-3 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Higher amounts of snow are being seen south of the city.
As much as four inches of the snow has been reported in Cape May at the Jersey Shore as well as southern Delaware. The majority of the area had thus far seen between a half-inch and two inches of snow by 7 a.m. The snow is expected to end by late morning across most of the area.
Still, many untreated roads, secondary streets and sidewalks are snow-covered, and may remain slick.
Philadelphia International Airport is advising travelers to check their flight status with their airlines.
Winds will be out of the northeast 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. The temperature will be around 30, forecasters said.
On Saturday night, a swift clipper system is predicted to move south of the city, bringing another chance of snow to the area, forecasters said.
The good news is that a high pressure system comes in behind on Sunday night and another warmup is set for mid-week. Temperatures are expected to rise well above normal.
Until then, temperatures will remain cold. Montgomery County has declared a Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency until 9 a.m. Saturday.
