B.B. King's daughters say the late singer was poisoned

Coroner investigating allegations of foul play

The daughters of legendary blues musician B.B. King say that they think their father was poisoned, the Associated Press reports.

While three doctors who examined King say the singer, who died earlier this month, say that he was properly cared for before his death, daughters Karen Williams and Patty King claim that they were prevented from seeing their father in the days leading up to his death.

They also say that they believe King's business manager LaVerne Toney and personal assistant Myron Johnson helped quicken his death through poisoning, as King claims she saw Johnson administer a foreign substance to him several evenings leading up to is death.

Toney and her legal representation have dismissed the claims, calling them ridiculous, but both King and Williams are adamant in their belief that their father was murdered by her and Johnson.

The Clark County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy of King's body Sunday and said they are taking the allegations seriously, NBC News reports. A funeral service for King is set for Saturday, May 30 in Mississippi.
