A 9-month-old girl was treated with Narcan after rolling onto a hypodermic needle in Manayunk on Wednesday, police said.

Authorities responded to a call about a child with a needle stuck in its leg around 6:30 p.m. along the 200 block of Green Lane, where they found the baby unresponsive. She was revived after receiving a dose of Narcan, a medication that is used to treat narcotic overdoses in emergencies.

The infant was admitted to Chestnut Hill Hospital in stable condition for accidental overdose.

The baby had rolled over onto the needle while she was lying in bed with her dad, The Associated Press reported. Steven Welsh, 35, faces charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and reckless endangerment of another person. Police identified Welsh as living with the child.

The Special Victims Unit is now investigating to determine what was in the needle and whether it had been used previously.

The Department of Human Services has been contacted, CBS3 reported
