Local dogs and their humans will descend upon the Navy Yard Saturday, Oct. 24 for the 9th Annual PAWS Mutt Strut. The fundraising effort for the beloved animal adoption organization raised $112,000 in 2014 to save Philadelphia's homeless and abandoned pets, making it that much closer to becoming a no-kill city.

During the Mutt Strut, dogs and their owners take a scenic walk around the Navy Yard before spending the afternoon in a festival with live music and food trucks. A dog agility course, costume and talent contests, paw print painting, pet portraits, grooming and more will all be available at the festival. WMMR DJs will play MC during the event and the Mummers will make an appearance, too.

Don't have a dog to walk? You can actually rent a dog for the day during the Mutt Strut. If you happen to fall in love with your furry friend, you can give him or her a forever home, too.

This year fundraising efforts are already under way. The registration fee of $25 per person starts each participant's individual fundraising page. Prizes like T-shirts and gift cards are earned for fundraising milestones. The top three individual fundraisers will win special experiences like five-day hotel stays or photo shoots while the top earning team wins a private party for 25 at The Trestle Inn.
