Several Bucks County police departments will begin wearing body cameras while on patrol starting Wednesday.
Philly.com reports the new equipment will be worn by officers of the county’s Chalfont, Doylestown, New Britain and Warminster Township departments for a 90-day trial period, with the intent to expand throughout the county following a trial program analysis.
If all goes according to plan, the Bucks County Sheriff's Department, the Lower Southampton, Northampton, Plumstead and Warrington Township departments will join in the program.
The equipment and analysis on the impact of its use is being funded by the U.S. Justice Department, which gave more than $23.2 million to 73 local and tribal agencies in 32 states.
