The Twisted Tail is all about bourbon in September.

Your odds of being able to buy a rare bourbon from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board are about the same as your odds of winning the lottery.

Literally: The PLCB will hold a lottery for 24 bottles of bourbon from the limited-edition Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection on Oct. 13, the Philadelphia Business Journal reported.

In the past, when PLCB has offered certain rare liquors on its website, they have often sold out within minutes and, in one case, have even caused the site to crash.

For example, when the board offered some Pappy Van Winkle on its website last year, "it was just more interest than we could handle," board spokeswoman Elizabeth Brassell told CBSPhilly.

So the board decided that it would be fairer to hold a lottery. It will offer 12 bottles each of two kinds of bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection, each aged for 10 years in French oak barrels.

Six out of the 24 bottles are reserved for store licensees, while the rest can go to individual buyers. The 375-milliliter bottles are priced at $48.49 each.

To participate, register at FineWineAndGoodSpirits.com. There is a one bottle limit per customer.
