A woman was struck and killed by a SEPTA Regional Rail train early Tuesday morning, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

The incident, which occurred shortly before 6 a.m. in Montgomery County on the Lansdale/Doylestown line between the North Wales and Gwynedd Valley stations, suspended service for nearly two hours between the Doylestown and Penllyn stations.

SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch told the Bucks County Courier Times that the train's operator saw the woman, blew the horn and applied the brake. However, the train was unable to stop before striking her.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roughly 250 passengers on the inbound train were shuttled by bus to the Penllyn station, where they boarded another train to Center City.

Around 10:30 a.m., some residual delays of 60 to 90 minutes were still being seen along the line, according to Busch.
