The New York Giants and MetLife Stadium have been sued by a New Jersey woman who claims she was severely injured by a fallen team photo while visiting the team gift shop two years ago.
The lawsuit, filed in Bergen County Superior Court, claims 53-year-old Scotch Plains resident Laura Gallagher sustained multiple severe and permanent injuries when a Giants picture frame "fell from a shelf and violently struck her," according to NJ.com.
Gallagher, who is being represented by Clark Law Firm, says her injuries have caused "ongoing pain, anguish and emotional distress" and further alleges that the defendants failed to preserve the picture frame as evidence despite requests to do so.
The civil lawsuit seeks compensatory damages that would be determined by a jury trial.
Neither the Giants nor MetLife Stadium would comment on pending litigation.
MetLife Stadium, built for approximately $1.6 billion and opened in 2010, is currently the most expensive stadium ever built.
