Local radio host Christ Stigall of 1210 WPHT, a station that broadcasts Phillies games, stirred up controversy by mocking Kramer's appearance and Utley's invitation, commenting, "you think she's even going to live for an entire season?"
Stigall later apologized for his comments on air:
Local sports-talk radio station 97.5 The Fanatic later partnered with Kramer to host a charity event at the McFadden's Sports Bar attached to Citizen's Bank Park to benefit the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The station, along with others, tweeted their congratulations to Kramer on Tuesday after she announced the news:
Amazing news for our friend, @JulieKramer4 who has learned her cancer is in remission! Like a true Phightin', she kicked cancer's butt.
