Winter wonderland maze coming to Philly

Created by the organization behind Spruce Street Harbor Park

The pop-up ice rink at Philadelphia’s Dilworth Park casts a warm glow on chilly winter days and nights. This season, a new attraction joins the skating rink.

On Nov. 11, a new attraction will open at Dilworth Park. Groundswell Design Group, the organization behind the popular Spruce Street Harbor Park and Independence Beer Garden, created a winter-only maze for the outdoor space.

America's Garden Capital Maze will showcase all 32 public gardens, arboreta and historic landscapes that are located within 30 miles of Philadelphia, by displaying topiaries from each. If you didn't know, Philadelphia is "America's Garden Capital."

The maze will feature twinkling lights, archways made from branches and other seasonal plants. Complete the maze, which also serves as a pop-up winter garden, and you'll find yourself at a decorated gazebo.

It was created in partnership with Greater Philadelphia Gardens.

During the winter, Dilworth Park is home to an ice rink, warming tent serving hot chocolate and alcoholic drinks and holiday market.

Rothman Institute Ice Rink and the Rothman Institute Cabin will open for the season alongside America's Garden Capital Maze on Nov. 11, while the Made in Philadelphia Market will open Nov. 19.

Christmas Village is also opening closer to Dilworth Park this year. The open-air holiday market will be set up at the City Hall Courtyard and Northern Apron.
