Artist Jennifer Steinkamp’s "dream-like" animated video projections – inspired by Benjamin Franklin’s research in electricity and Parkway institutions – will illuminate four large fiberglass domes nightly, from sunset to midnight on the Parkway.
Find the "Winter Fountains" at Aviator Park, Rodin Museum, Park Towne Place and Spring Garden Triangle.
There will be a free opening celebration at the Franklin Institute's Fels Planetarium from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 30. Guests can enjoy dessert before or after the first lighting of the artwork at 6:30 p.m.
"Anyone who’s ever observed water melting and glistening on a piece of ice will get my project," shared Steinkamp.
Steinkamp is a video and new media artist, as well as a professor in UCLA’s Department of Design Media Arts.
