Prince William and Kate Middleton have announced the name of the Princess of Cambridge, and it is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
Middleton gave birth to the princess on Saturday. She is the couple's second child and first daughter and will be fourth in line to the throne behind her brother, Prince George, born in 2013; father, William; and grandfather Prince Charles.
According to The Daily Mail, William and Kate waited two days to publicly announce their daughter's name in order to first personally share the name with Queen Elizabeth.

Charlotte may be a nod to grandfather Prince Charles; Elizabeth, a nod to the queen, who, in September, will be Britain's longest-reigning monarch; and Diana to the child's late-grandmother Princess Diana, who died in a 1997 car crash.
