Will Smith joins Instagram, teases Justin Timberlake about dangers of Super Bowl

When the NFL announced in October that Justin Timberlake will perform at halftime of Super Bowl LII, one of the actor-pop star's first promises was no wardrobe malfunctions, with or without Janet Jackson by his side.

Timberlake, 36, is expected next year to release his first full-length album since 2013, a project his Super Bowl performance will only help in generating buzz.

Over the weekend, West Philly's own Will Smith officially joined Instagram. It's a bold step for the 49-year-old actor, who previously relied exclusively on a Facebook page to reach his fans.

One of the first people to congratulate Smith was Justin Timberlake.

Welcome to Instagram @willsmith. This is called a #TBT. Which means Throwback Thursday. Which is a photo you post on Thursdays that you like, that was taken in the past. I like this photo because it’s a photo of you and me. And we look like we are having a serious conversation about something very important. And that makes me feel important.

Smith, who already has 2.4 million followers, sent Timberlake a special message back.

Hey @justintimberlake JT, you’ve been a friend and an ally for a lot of years. Nothin’ but Love 4ya’!
