In Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," Ebeneezer Scrooge watches with the Ghost of Christmas Present as the Cratchit family sits down to roast goose and Christmas pudding.
The modern American family usually enjoys ham, turkey or beef on the holiday, but goose on Christmas is a tradition.
As Dickens wrote, "Its tenderness and flavor, size and cheapness were the themes of universal admiration."
This Christmas, Urban Farmer on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will keep with tradition by offering goose breast on the menu.
The dish ($32) will include confit goose stuffing, braised collard greens and giblet gravy.
Other holiday dishes, available Sunday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 25, include oxtail onion soup, king crab salad and a 120-day aged ribeye steak.
The restaurant will serve dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Christmas Day.
Sunday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 25
Beginning at 5 p.m.
