There is something special happening in South Philadelphia.

This year, the New Wells Fargo Center will finish a $400 million transformation that has reimagined the iconic venue and enhanced nearly every aspect of how fans experience sports and live events.

A Transformation Resulting in "a Brand New Arena"

Starting in 2016, Comcast Spectacor – the arena’s owner and operator – has made significant investments to completely re-make the arena, just as similarly-aged, shared NBA and NHL arenas in other major cities like Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles have done.

Make no mistake – this was much more than simply replacing carpets, tiles, and paint – the project involved stripping down the building to its steel and concrete structure and reconstructing it to rival any new or newly renovated arenas around the country.

Elevated Food and Beverage Featuring the City's Best

As they enter the arena, guests will immediately notice a reimagined design of every inch of the building including widened concourses and redesigned food and bar spaces. As part of the transformation, the New Wells Fargo Center elevated its entire food and beverage program including how guests order and experience a meal at the venue.

Visitors can count on enjoying their tried-and-true favorites – such as crab fries and cheesesteaks – while also enjoying modern concepts by world-renowned chefs and restauranteurs Stephen Starr, Jose Garces and Mark Vetri.

Reimagined Fan Experiences Create Multiple Options for “Best Seat in the House”

Through the transformation, the New Wells Fargo Center replaced every single seat in the arena with new seats for peak comfort and visibility. While there isn’t a bad seat in the house, with fantastic sightlines throughout the arena for any event, many younger fans are drawn to The Assembly Room – named after a historic space found inside Independence Hall – which is an upscale, open-concept bar and lounge environment that showcases a Philadelphia-meets-modern ambiance. In a space that was previously devoted to private group suites, the one-of-a-kind, fully immersive experience includes two eateries, two bars, four functioning fireplaces, game action screens, and communal dining and seating areas that can adapt to any type of outing. Even better: the Assembly Room offers an affordable price point, with standing room Flyers tickets starting at $25.

Fans looking for a luxurious experience will enjoy the revamped Club Level, which includes new amenities like tequila and whiskey tasting bars, heated loge seating, and in-seat food and beverage service. The Club Level is also home to Cap and Collar, a retail boutique where shoppers can find exclusive, high-end merchandise.

The fans are not the only ones who enjoy and benefit from the arena’s incredible transformation – the player and performer experience were another critical focus of the transformation project. With brand-new, top-of-the-line locker rooms, health and training facilities, and medical equipment, performers and athletes have state-of-the-art spaces and resources to ensure their health and well-being. Family lounges have also been upgraded for players’ and performers’ loved ones to have private, comfortable areas to gather or relax away from the action.

World-Class Technology and Sustainability throughout the Building

Once inside, fans also immediately notice the amazing technology enhancements to their experience. The New Wells Fargo Center is truly state-of-the-art, with the world’s first-ever Kinetic 4K scoreboard system, 12,000 square feet of high-definition digital screens throughout the building, and newly installed Wi-Fi for faster internet connections and seamless mobile ordering and activity.

Behind-the-scenes, Comcast Spectacor also placed a special priority on sustainability. High-efficiency lighting and a new HVAC system – which refreshes the air in the arena bowl every 30 minutes – makes the building one of the cleanest and most sustainable closed air arenas in North America. These upgrades reduce energy consumption and play a key part in the City’s renewable future.

Stars Aligning for Growth in South Philadelphia

The New Wells Fargo Center is a keystone for the legendary South Philadelphia Sports Complex as a whole. With neighbors such as Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, Xfinity Live! and Live! Casino and Hotel, the Complex continues to serve as the epicenter of accessible, year-round sports and entertainment experiences for the entire Philadelphia region. And with other major investments happening nearby, including the revitalization of FDR Park and the Navy Yard as well as the addition of the Bellwether District, the future of South Philadelphia is incredibly bright!

An anchor in the Sports Complex, the New Wells Fargo Center is more than a modern venue – it’s a world-class sports and entertainment destination for athletes to compete, entertainers to perform and families to make memories for decades to come.
