Gallons of water shot through the air for hours after a water main break in Northeast Philadelphia.
Utility crews finally shut off the water supply after Wednesday night's water main burst in Northeast Philly shot thousands of gallons of water more than 100 feet into the air, according to 6abc Action News.
Crews managed to turn off the water shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
The 10-inch fire service line pipe broke around 7 p.m. Wednesday, creating a spectacular geyser on Blue Grass Road near Grant Avenue.
Philadelphia Water Department Workers were at the scene for hours trying to shut down water lines. According to NBC10, one employee suffered undisclosed injuries during the attempt.
Workers had trouble reaching the break as it sits between an auto body shop and a car dealership. They also dealt with the freezing cold temperatures that caused the water to ice over.
6abc Action News reports that no residents in the area have lost service as a result of the break.
This break is one of several recent water main bursts in Philadelphia in the past few days.
