Police are seeking help from the public after a four-month-old child was abducted – and then found abandoned on the sidewalk near the Philadelphia Museum of Art – during a vehicle theft early Monday morning in West Philadelphia.
Police said the young boy was found about a half hour later.
According to police, at about 7: 50 a.m. on Monday, a man reported that his vehicle, a white 2013 Chrysler Town and Country van with a Pennsylvania tag of JMX-6013, was stolen from in front of a store at 4847 Walnut St. in West Philadelphia.
His four-month-old son was secured in the back seat of the vehicle, which was left running while the child's father went to shop at a nearby store, police said.
While the child's father shopped, a black male – described as a teenager with a light complexion and wearing tan pants, a camouflage vest with a black hooded sweatshirt, black shoes and red umbrella – hopped into the idling van and drove off with the child inside.
