A pair of longtime Philadelphia investigative reporters with extensive experience covering the city's mob scene recently analyzed on video an ongoing racketeering case against one of Philadelphia's most recognizable mob figures.
George Anastasia, a longtime Philadelphia Inquirer mob reporter who contributes for PhillyVoice joined Fox29's Dave Schratwieser for a nine-minute talk posted to YouTube on Friday that mainly centered around the Joey Merlino case.
But they touched on other topics within Philly's mob, including its current state.
The video is the latest edition of a series called "Mob Talk." Both reporters plan an upcoming episode that will bring "some people to the table. Experts, maybe some former wise guys, folks like that," Schratwieser said.
'Skinny Joey' Merlino, a South Philly native and reputed mob boss, faces a single federal racketeering charge in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
But Anastasia reported in June that the case may be falling apart. A week later, Merlino's attorneys filed paperwork seeking to have his trial moved to the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, which happens to be located in his hometown.
