Coming off a loss to Marquette on Tuesday, it didn't seem like Sunday would be Villanova's day either. The top-ranked Wildcats (who will lose that ranking tomorrow) faced a tough test against No. 12 Virginia, and the Cavaliers' stingy defense stifled 'Nova for most of the afternoon. Villanova trailed by 12 at multiple points of the second half.
But then Jay Wright's team turned up the defense, Kris Jenkins finally made some shots, and Villanova had a chance to win on the last possession of the game.
They gave the ball to Josh Hart (who else?), who missed a contested layup, but athletic freshman guard Donte DiVincenzo was able to sneak in and get a tip the ball just before the buzzer. The Wells Fargo center then erupted, as the Wildcats had escaped with a 61-59 win. Watch it here:
