On lottery night, Flyers fans were hoping desperately that the Orange and Black could jump up to the top spot and select Connor McDavid. The 18-year-old center instead went to the Edmonton Oilers, a franchise that has picked in the top overall spot quite a bit as of late.
Last night in Edmonton, McDavid (12 points in 12 games) injured himself against the Flyers after losing an edge and getting tangled up with defensemen Brandon Manning and Michael Del Zotto:
Ouch. Unfortunately for McDavid, the Oilers, and the NHL, the young star will be out for some time with an "upper-body injury":
Coach McLellan says @cmcdavid97 has an upper-body injury that will keep him out long term.
