Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the sale and consumption of the first genetically modified (GMO) salmon, fish that would grow bigger and faster to meet a growing demand.

But anti-GMO advocates and supporters, including more than 60 retailers like Wal-Mart, Costco, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, have opted against selling the modified fish created by AquaBounty Technologies, according to TakePart.com, a digital magazine and social-action platform.
According to TakePart.com, the GMO salmon won't bear a GMO stamp and would "likely be marketed as 'Atlantic Salmon.'"
