The Wahlberg brothers - Mark, Donnie and Paul - announced earlier this year that a Philly outpost of their burger chain Wahlburgers would open at the Piazza this winter. In anticipation of that fine day, the Wahlburgers food truck, which appeared in the Piazza just last month, will set up shop the while the brick-and-mortar location is under construction. Beginning Saturday, Oct. 31, it will serve a limited menu of burgers and bites.
The limited selection will include menu items Our Burger, Alma’s Favorite Chicken, Portobello Mushroom Cap, Tater Tots, and Aqua Hydrate, with the entire menu subject the change. The truck will also be available for special events and parties, meaning its hours will change, too. Be sure to check the Wahlburgers Philly site before heading over until the 5,000 square foot restaurant is ready.
In a tip of the hat to the City of Brotherly Love, Wahlburgers is asking Philadelphians to help create a new burger for their local eatery. Locals are invited to submit their burger creations to the Wahlburgers Philly site beginning Sunday, Nov. 1 and one combo will be named the Invincible Burger. Yes, of course, that is a reference to Mark Wahlberg's 2006 movie "Invincible" about former Eagle Vince Papale and coach Dick Vermeil. The winner gets VIP tickets to the grand opening of Wahlburgers Philly.
